I am a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and have returned back to India seven years ago, after spending eight years in the West ( 6 yrs in US & 2 yrs in UK ). I finished my Cardiothoracic surgery boards in 1991 from J J Hsp and Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India.
After leaving India in 1995, I worked at the Oregon Health Science University, Portland, USA initially as a fellow and then as a faculty member. My association with Dr.Adnan Cobanoglu and Dr. Albert Starr helped me gain significant skills and insights in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery and cardiac transplantation. To gain experience in heart and lung transplantation, I went to Manchester, U.K. for a couple of years. The English experience was excellent because the transplantation infrastructure also encompassed medical management in addition to surgical one. I, arguably, have one of the largest experience in Heart and Lung transplantation in India.
The return to John Stroger Cook County Hsp and Rush Presby Med Ctr in Chicago, USA for the next couple of years was to gain more expertise in OPCABG, Mitral valve repairs and Robotic surgery.
For the past six years in Mumbai performing complex adult and pediatric cases has been the norm, as illustrated in the attachment.
I was a fulltime Consultant at P D Hinduja Hsp, Mumbai for four years and now am a visiting Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Nanavati Hsp, Criticare Hsp, Seven Hills Hsp, Cumballa Hill Hsp, BSES Hsp and Zynova Hsp.
I attach a listing of some high risk case scenarios tackled successfully by me in the first three years of practice after my return to India.
I am looking at an attachment to your hospital as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon for the advertised vacancy. I can assure you of excellent and efficient care of patients.
I remain, sincerely yours

Dear sir
I am Cardiothoracic surgeon, and until the end of May I was working as a cardiac surgeon in the Salam Centre for cardiac surgery in Khartoum (a hospital designed , run and managed by Emergency ,an italian NGO) and i have joined an international team of six cardiac surgeons.I had the opportunity to work with exceptional surgeons like Prof . Di Summa, L.Neilson, Dr Lindblom (ex director of Karolinska cardiac surgery department) .We performed 4-6 operations per day covering acquired valve disease and congenital disease -TOF,VSD,ASD.Since the majority off our patient where young ,I had the opportunity to get familiar with and study the mitral valve repair techniques -enlargement of the PMVL,transposition of chordae,e.t.c-
During my training I had the opportunity to be exposed to off pump CABG ,on pump CABG ( total arterial grafting, composite grafts,pedicle/sceletonized LIMA ,radial harvesting)and assist in many cases of acute aortic dissections and I also have worked as a registrar in cardiac surgery in Brighton UK for 6 months.
Looking forward to hear from you soon.
Sincerely

When the part of the disc or a bone spur is pressing on a nerve as it leaves the vertebra (through an exit called the foramen), a foraminotomy may be done. A foraminotomy is making the opening of the foramen larger, so the nerve can exit without being compressed. We have a bony plate at the back of each vertebra that protects our spinal canal and spinal cord it is called as lamina. Surgeon removes all or a part of the lamina to make more room.

The spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that carries messages between the brain and the rest of the body.Acute spinal cord injury (SCI) is due to a traumatic injury that can either result in a bruise (also called a contusion), a partial tear, or a complete tear (called a transection) in the spinal cord. About 250,000 to 400,000 individuals in the US have a spinal cord injury. About 60 percent of these cases are 30 years old or younger. SCI results in a decreased or absence of movement, sensation, and body organ function below the level of the injury. The most common sites of injury are the cervical and thoracic areas. SCI is a common cause of permanent disability and death in children and adults.

Posterior cervical fusion is done through the back (posterior) of the neck. The surgery joins two or more neck vertebrae into one solid section of bone. The medical term for fusion is arthrodesis. Posterior cervical fusion is most commonly used to treat neck fractures and dislocations and to fix deformities in the curve of the neck. Surgeons sometimes attach metal hardware to the neck bones during posterior fusion surgery. This hardware is called instrumentation.
